Share Your Story

Have you visited the Crucible of War website or seen our documentary film and now want to share your own Balkan story with others? Whether you are currently or formerly from any of the countries or territories of what was once Yugoslavia, this is the place to let your thoughts flow. Current and former members of the international community who have worked or served in the region are also welcome to share your own experiences.

We have a few groundrules:

1) You can post in any language, but please be aware that most of our readers understand English. While we spent the first year of this project, translating all comments into English, we no longer can afford the time or expense.

2) Different viewpoints are welcome here, but please don't mistake us allowing these viewpoints on our website for us condoning these opinions. The opinions belong to those individuals and not to the Crucible of War team.

3) We reserve the right to remove any postings which contain irrelevant comments, advertising, obscenity, or are one line nationalistic rantings. Please remember that many of the people who read these pages are not necessarily familiar with the region and are visiting the site to understand more. If you have strong political viewpoints, why not explain your personal experiences which are behind them?

Oh, and if you are wondering why the first 337 posts were made anonymously on November 19 and 25, 2006, they weren't. Those are the dates we converted from our outdated feedback pages on our website to a blogging program. Unfortunately we could not migrate the posting dates over, but those posts were made between 2000 and 2006.

Yeah, I'm not Croatian or Serbian or Bosnian or whatever, but you know what I think? I think that Croatians and Serbians should put their differences asside and come together as the good neighbours they once were. Do you guys not remember both fighting the Bulgarians when they tried invading? Do you guys not remember joining together as one country? I personally think you should stop fighting. You guys should just become friends and stay that way. Maybe even join together to fight a common enemy. Croats should take note of whats going on in Kosovo. Albanians are like a disease. A cancer that spreads. And you Croats probably think nothing of them... But they WILL spread. And croatia's next. So far Serbia, Greece, and Macedonia have become existing hosts to these muslim pests. I mean... Croats are Catholic... Serbs are Orthodox... YOUR BOTH CHRISTIANS. And as a matter of fact, those two are the FIRST christian religions. Serbs and Croats fought along side eachother in the crusades againstr teh invading muslims. You both drove them out of europe almost entirely. And there's enough proof that the only reason the two countries broke up was because of outside instigation and influence from countries like U.S.A and Germany. The only reason they made you guys break up is because you guys would have been too powerful. Militarily, and Economicaly doiminant in eastern europe. I mean, you guys should get together and show the world what serbo-croatians can do. Trully beat everyone in every catagory. Like look at sports for example. Croatians are the top team in handball, and really goo at soccer. While serbs are really good in soccer, top 3 in the world at volleyball, also good at handball, number 1 in the world for basketball after they won the 2002 championship in the U.S.A and also number 1 in the world in water polo. I could say teh leaste in sports liek hockey where i must say both countries equally suck hahaha. But in any case... stop the fighting, break out and join together, and be like you all once were. Good neighbours.

Whoever posted before me is obviously not one of our slavic brothers. He/she doesnt understand what went on. If you had your family killed by a Serb or a Croat would you still be 'good neighbours'? Think about that.

For any of you that wish to deny the war crimes of the Serbs on thre citizens of Croatia, Bosnia, or Kosovo remember this. Belgrade has the largest Serb population, but The Hague is fast approaching the SECOND largest Serb city!

Croats first started the war, killed many Serbian people, they killed Serbian children. It's very sad to know how they lied about what happend. And what about the Serbian people they've killed and dumped in Dunav? What about all the lies on TV where they were showing serbian people killed and then lied that they were croats. How come Serbs would destroyed the city where most of the people were Serbians? You can still lie about what happend, WE KNOW THE TRUTH!!!

I'm not a croat or a serbian but i want to tel my opinion about this war that it should stop, beetwen the croats and the serbs.Iknow that i don't know wath realy hapend up there because i wasen't there when it hapend but, a documentary was gest what io needed to anderstand haw they live in Croatia. There is abrige , that SEPARETS THE CROATS FROM THE SERBIAN.A BANDRIE between them, that makes the hate between them ivan biger. Another thing, SCHOOLS they learn in separated class rooms iven if the differences beetwen the two languages are not so big. Now it is a safe place , but, they live in the past ,and they should live in the present. Hate is not a solution .ACCEPT ONE A NOTHER CROATIAN OR SERBIAN!

Hi, I was reading your stories and posts, I saw few of them which says: "we shold forget";"we need to forget"... I say "WE MUST NOT FORGET VUKOVAR AND NOTHING FROM THAT WAR"! Because many Croatian soliders and civils was killed...they gave their lives for independent croatia...and it woldn't be fair for them to forget. And the other thing is that people who live in Croatia and says "we shold forget" are actually sebs or half-half because they know that serbs mada a big mistake and they just want to forget. And think that if serbs are sorry, we shold forgive, but NEVER FORGET!!!

Serbs will never be sorry for something they did not commit. Croatians are now hungry without serbs and they cry now for Yugoslavia.

I'm living in Belgrade since a few months, coming from France. I went to visit Vukovar recently. I can strongly feel every day among Serb population of Belgrade this tendancy to deny what happened, to put this Serbian pride ahead of any willing to analyze history, mistakes, potential mutual respnsabilities, aand to promote the "great Serbia"; very efficient brainwashing ... no of course Serbs have never been responsabile of anything ... Milosevic was just a tender sheep. a perfect behavior if you want the same tragedy to happen again... sad, very sad for this beautiful region.

well...wow....reading all these post is realy redicoules....what's everyone fighting about..serb..or croat...who cares...arent we all the same...soem would say no..the wars on balkans have been going on for centuries and have not brought anything good to anyone...why argue about something when noone here knows what they r talkling about...i visited vukovar several times..and the tension betven races there will never end...it's easy to talk trash on here and say it's croatina...it's serbian...wow there is a lot of proud serbs and croats on this site...well for al of those you should just mind your own bussiness and keep your opinions to yourselfs because they r stupid.....what has happened to a beautiful country is really sad and unfortunate...but people should at least try and make ti better now that everything is over instead stil have childish fights over it .....what happened in vukovar noone really knows but the people who have servived it ....they are the only ones that know the whole truth and not many of them will tell you much about it because it's just a reminder of something soo horrible that has happened....repiting myself....i think the point of this site is to give your survavial story not to argue over the crap it seems thta there isnt many people on here that have been there during the war times ...soo u shouldn't say anything....again only people that have been there during the whole war time know the truth

My name is Jasmin Kovacevic, or Jason as i'm known here in Sydney Australia. I'm 23 (2003), and lived in Mostar from 1981 till 1983, then again 1984 to 1986. My parents were born in Konjic in 1946 and 1951 respectively. In 1971, they left Yugoslavia and settled here (Australia) for a better life. In 1978, my father won compensation for a back injury (A$100, 000) and took the money to build a 3 storey European style mansion in Western Mostar. After we left in 1986 for Australia, we did not get an opportunity to return as war broke out several years later. We however heard in 1993 that our house had been mined by extremist Croatians. To date nothing has happened of any rebuilding or similar. To date that has been A$100, 000 as a write off - but for my father, a very expensive write off as he is disabled due to this accident he had in the 1970s whilst working. Although I was very young whilst in Yugoslavia in the early 1980s, I remember that life there had been just as like it had been here in Australia. Yugoslavia had been a fabulous country. Just like the present day Australia has a whole lot of races happily mixed here, so did Yugoslavia. I see that many articles speak of "suppressed hatreds" following world war 2. I disagree with this. I mean, sure there were hatreds, but there are hatreds everywhere. There are hatreds here, in the US of A, etc. The real cause of that war were macroeconomic crises, which the US and other nations played a very large part. I adore Yugoslavia for what it was. I still dream one day that perhaps we will unite and form the same country, though it will probably never happen. I only have one thing from heart to heart to all those who played a part in ending our great country. I hope you rot and burn in hell forever. I hope there are natural disasters and plagues in your country forever to come. Suppressed my butt! There are laws in Australia which make racism illegal. Would articles refer to this as "suppressed hatreds" also?? My dream is to see a large Yugoslavia one day again, mirroring succesful multicultural countries like Canada and Australia.

This is Jasmin again. For the record, my family has never had any problems with Serbs or Croats. I used to play in the street happily in Mostar with my Serbian friends 'Gogo', and another called 'Emir'. In fact, I have a girlfriend here, Milena, who is Serbian. I however believe that the Croatian extremists who mined our (unattended since 1986) house in Gornja Jasenica BB are *************. I hope you all have a slow and painful life, full of depression and anger. It is people like you who do not deserve to live. This applies to extremists of all races. Life for you is not precious enough. Selfish pigs like you extremists are the only sources of hate and problems. Because of you *************, we now have a country with less jobs, less opportunity, more poverty, rising prices, and a million other problems. Jasmin. hiitisme AT @graffiti.net

Hi Jasmin, I look forward to that day also. Though i know it'll never happen. Extremists messed up our country. They got into power from left, right, centre. Example: Milosevich, Tudman, perhaps maybe Izetbegovich to an extent. I say also Tudman as he brought a referendum to croatia to succeed, and Izetbegovich for supporting Bosnia leaving Yugoslavia, when it could have remained part of Yugoslavia happily. Deep down in my heart I am still a Yugoslav, and always will be. Mirela. Melbourne, Au.

I was born in Mostar in 1985 and managed to get out of there in 1995. I live in California now, and I must say that it's better this way.

The older generation (like my parents' generation) is quick to say they want the good ol' days back when that place in the Balkans was known as Yugoslavia and not Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, and Macedonia. No one wants to realize that the system had to go, and everyone is quick to blame the Serbs.

I can't speak for everyone here, but I was terrorized most by the Croatian population and the Croatian military. The Serbs did nothing to me, even though I was a product of a mixed marriage.

All sides were guilty, all sides committed atrocities, all sides had horrible leadership (Tudjman, Izetbegovic, and Milosevic were all pigs) and we all got caught up in the middle.

I'm sorry to burst the bubble of you hopeless dreamers, but you will never be able to go to your Mostar and see it as it was before. I was there last winter, and I couldn't wait to get out of there. The effects of the war will ring in the ears of the population for decades to come, and the area is far from returning to normal.

That city was once all I needed, my friends, my family, and all the positive memories of my childhood that I associate with it. Mostar was once very special, a small city with a tightly-knit community that knew one another. Now it's a joke, a city full of strangers, drugs, and sorrow, but rich in unemployment, burnt buildings, and cemetaries.

The only regret I have about the whole war is being so far away from family. Other than that, I am much better off here in California than I ever was in that place.

Some of you people need a dose of reality. Stop living in the past, focus what time and energy you have left in creating new relationships wherever you are now. Don't put false hopes on some clouded, blurry dream of once again being reunited with everyone and living life like it was pre-1991, there is too much to live for today.

Hi, this is the real cause of the reason that such a wonderful multiethnic tolerant country called Yugoslavia broke apart. The cause were extremist Croatians, not ordinary Hrvati or Srbi or Bosanci or Muslimani. The extremist Croatians however had been assisted to a large extent by the United States at the time and Germany. In 1990, there was a large radical fascist (ustasa) movement building up in Hrvatska that had not been seen since the end of World War II. These people infiltrated Croatia and soon had a referendum held for independence. The leader of these movers and shakers had been the hellbound Dr Franjo Tudman. I have seen an independent thesis compare him to Ariel Sharon. In August of 1990, Dr Franjo Tudman finally asked for independence for Croatia. Immediately staright after, the then US Secretary of State Warren Christopher emphasised to the world their position that Croatia is to be given independence. germany's Dr Helmut Kohl also followed suit. Instead of stressing a 'together' Yugoslavia, Tito's successful dream, they wanted Croatia to gain independence. The Ustasa and the fascists. These are people which Tito would have locked up, and who deserved to be locked up. The interests of germany, the USA and the West here is simple - to see Yugoslavia as a people of beggars. They are not this literally today, but close to this. Things were a lot better beforehand. I saw a documentary in 2001 where the accused perished 9/11 suicide hijacker Mohammad Atta left a suicide note and in it, one of the reasons he put for doing what he did was the action of the USA on Yugoslavia. Pity all those innocent people had to perish though. Today Mostar is full of drugs thanks to the Americans.

Dobar dan, ili dobra vecer. From March to September 2003, I served as the U.S. Army liaison officer from the Multinational Brigade North in Tuzla to the Multinational Brigade Southeast in Mostar. I watched the bridge reconstruction for the entire time I was there. Despite the expressions of opinions regarding the situation in Iraq, I was generally treated well on both sides of the Neretva. I was happy to see the new businesses and the reconstruction. Mostar is a beautiful, magical place. The people, the bridge, Mt. Velez and the Neretva will always have a place in my heart. I feel great sorrow for the suffering of your people, but your spirit is strong and you will prevail. I wish you all peace and prosperity in the future.

This talk is all fine, but i lost my 2 storey house in Bosnia Herzegovina. I went there from Australia in 78 with my life savings at the time. So far the authorities have refused to help me as i live in Austyralia, despite me having gone back 2 since the war ended. Our house was a 3 storey in western mostar in Gornja Jasenica BB. If the filmmaker remembers going through a street there that has now been asphalted just after the war, our 3 storey house was the only one mined there. All the rest were brilliant croatian neighbours we never had a problem with. I don't believe they mined it - it is the HVO. Actually the street is the small one that goes to the old pilot school in Gornja Jasenica BB. If the filmmaker ever remembers going through a drive along it some time, he may even recall one wreck along that street, yes just one wreck. One Muslim family in Gornja Jasenica. Yes yes that's right. But I do know one thing. If you sitting there were in my stage in life and were cheated out of this much, and were still not helped, you come here to Sydney Australia and you look me in the face like a man and you tell me that you would leave it aside and forget it. We are talking about my life savings. A 100K house. Lets reemember for 1 second that i was in Australia during the war. We left in 1986 and stayed here throughout the whole war. You see the anger that has built up inside me all these years i only have 1 alternative - I am going to find an unlucky Croatian family somewhere, sometime, and I will have to committ either an armed robbery to recoup what the HVO have taken away from me and refudse to pay for to this day - or tragically i will have to go to a croatian family home and order them out at gunpoint while i lay mines. And wait before i do that - i'll call the entire street and allow everyone to remove parts from that house. Lets let them remove doors, windows, furniture,m the fridge, the washing machine, the air conditioner. Which is what my tenant who had to flee said happened to mine. And after i;ve done all that I'm going to detonate it and have it mined. You reading this now - yea you webmaster and filmmaker, i hope you have enpathy and positive people skills which i am sure you do. I hope you can see how much anger (not hatred lets not get confused here) has built up inside me due to the croatian or bosnian governments inability to pay for what they have done to me.

Ah Fudo brate, ja sam musliman i klanjam 5 puta nadan i trenutno postim.

I am shocked with some hateful messages that i just saw. Hello people, stop the intolerance, the war is over! I understand it might be impossible to forget all the pain caused by the war, but feeding the hate and the ethinic diferences will make life ugly, sad and painful for the new generations. Peace be upon everybody!

Ja to neznam Fudo, mozda nikada necu ni znati. Pravoslavci cuvaju jedno drugo bolje nego mi Muslimani. Puno bolje Fudo.

I do not know much about Mostar, but being a Bosnian my self I do know something about it. Just like in my city, Mostar was betraded by most of its citizens. As much as they loved their city, they are willing to give it up for nationalistic beieves and it did not matter which side Iam talking about, wheather it being the Crats or the Serbs , nor the Bosniaks, Mostar belonged to all of its citizens but they instead let it die infront of their own eyes. Every man who was responsible for these crimes against humanity will recieve their punishment wheather it being in this live or the next. I know it sees hard to imagine, but maybe one day this city will maybe become its former self, a city which is united. And i hope one day that we all can go back to our cities in Bosnia and start over again instead of being spread all over the world. I have a friend who loves this city more than anyone I know , and she wants to go back and live in her beloved city, I wish her the best of luck in realizing her dream.

i spent a year in the balkans as a U.S. Army soldier. i travelled through mostar on a convoy operation in 1998. i saw the reminents of a beautiful city with many stories to discover between the lines. you could almost feel the energy of thousands of years of history in the streets of mostar. i felt a sadness driving through mostar as i took pictures of its citizenry on a lazy sunday afternoon. My pictures tell a story of humaness through adversity. This i believe was depicted in mostars war torn scarring. Revisiting those pictures give me a bittersweet feeling. my heart and blessings go out to the city of mostar

Bosnia and Hercegovina is a beautifoul country and beautifoul land filled with thousand's of years of history. IT IS SUCH A SHAME THAT THERE IS SO MUCH HATRED in the country. Shame that there is religios and nationalistic hatred. When will this STOP? I left bosnia & Hercegovina 10 years ago. SUCH BEAUTIFOUL LAND BUT SO MUCH HATRED

All I have to say is that those who don't live in former Yugoslavia are those who are still full of hate. The people living there still are the ones who learned to live with each other once again despite all their differences. I'm not saying there still isn't hate there, but it's sure a lot better than it used to be. I live in Canada now and I see how much hate there still is here. That hate is held mostly by children who were born in Canada, those who hold on to the "stories" their parents told them and who are, to say the least, very ignorant. The pride that Serbs, Croats and Muslims hold is still very strong. That pride can unify us, but unfortunately it has been used most often to separate us. I know a lot about the our history, and not just from one source..there are many..after all a lot of it is biased..so you have to look at all the sides. We have all been at fault at one point or another. I have to say some more than others..although I won't name the groups. The bottom line is that too much pride is not always a good thing..it causes a certain group to think they are superior..better than the rest. The funny thing is..most of those people lived side by side. ok enough of this..it could go on forever..my main point still lies in the first 2 lines.

To the last entry, we used to have a large house in a street that leads to the old pilot school in Gornja Jasenica. We left in 1986 to go to Australia where we are still now. We left a tenant in our house there. He corresponded with us regularly. He wrote and said that when it all initially started, several Serb guerrillas ran through the town and put some Croat houses on fire, but that was it. There were no houses being mined in Mostar at that time by the Serbs. To the contrary, in 1992, our tenant wrote to us and advised that Croat militants came to the house in 1992 and ordered him out then detonated the house from a safe distance. I've nevert held racism towards Croats but this is a cold and callous act designed to destroy all existence of us ever having lived there. Did Muslims not help their Croat counterparts in Mostar initially against Serbs? Maybe Muslims chose the wrong side to support. The Croats later turned on the Muslims there. Perhaps if the Mulsims teamed up with the Serbs we would have different outcomes?

I was in Mostar from 1992 thru 1994 as a independent aid worker, i worked alone financed by myself for a large part of the 3 years i spent in bosnia, i was working for no organisation. what i was realy doing was covertly arranging the evacuation of wonded women and children to the West for life saving sergery. i had to keep a pretty low profile becuase of the risk of being acussed of being a spy by either the HVO or the BIH, also fear of being captured by the Serbs (checniks)(wrong spelling i know)was a real fear. I worked alongside two great guys from Mostar, one Muslim and one Serb who i'd better not name. I was heavly involverd with a organisation called CHILDRENS CONSULATE MOSTAR.

Mostar is indeed a beautiful city. Pity the destruction and hate amongst all its peoples. From everything I'm reading the main extremists are the Croatians on the West side of the Neretva river. During World War II the grandfathers of these Croats were Nazi Ustasha who committed genocide against the Serbs of Bosnia and Croatia. Today, these same Nazi war criminals are revered and honoured in Croatia and Bosnia. Schools, street names are being renamed after Croat Nazis. Incredible but true. Unless all these people can learn to live together, then they should seriously consider just dividing this sad country up. Unfortunately, Croatia has gotten scot free away wih genocide in 1941 and again today. Until they are confronted with their Nazi past, Croat extremism and hate will continue to grow in Bosnia.

I went througth Mostar and Bosnia last year it's a beautiful place it also shows that multiculturalism dose not work however i beleve bosina should have remained together as its destroyed so many lives.

Sorry as i might defend people but if you want to call yourself Muslim you realy should call yourself Turkish the Turks have destroyed so much of Europe
Cro,Serb,Greeks bloody half of Europe bringing ther backward culture and middle east religous sector.

Its funny now that the Balkans including Bosnia is under the west(Jewish controled US goverment)I am starting to see ASIANS it won't take to long to make
Bosnia look like America or Britain bi-racial people poping out coloured babies who don't have any clue that their US Jewish goverment is destroying the
world througth ther terrosim and media .

Maybe the three races of bosnia and the surving countries of Europe will have to join and fight if they want to survive.

HHi everyone.

I was nicely reading these posted messages. Now, I'm not the guy who likes to give empty comments for the tragedy that happened to Mostar and Bosnia, but this last opinion of the guy ( or girl) who talks about the Bosnian Muslims as Turks, is obviosly not aware of few things.

First off, he (she) does not
understand the history of Balcans or at least did not study enough.

Second Turkey , Ottoman Empire at the time, to be more exact, was the conquerer and, yes indeed, made a big mess to Balcanians, but they also brought the culture and partly unknown "new" religion at the time.

Third, Celts , Ilirs and
Thracians (tribes that lived on Balcans even before Romans took over the Balcans more than 2000 years B.C.) the peaceful people, were suffered the Roman
invasion, and after centuries Empire finally fell apart 476 A.C. According to historians south Slavs, Croats and Serbs namely, came and moved to Balcans
between 6th and 7th century from the area of what today is Polland. Most of
today Bosnians came from Ilirs, who later mixed with Croats , Serbs and Bogumils (who were deported by Bulgaria because of the believes that were different
than Orthodox) and some Turks that stayed and lived on Balcans thru the time of Ottoman Empire

Bosnia was "naturally" founded by the king Kotromanjic as
result of Croatian and later Serbian kings plans to settle the borders and take over that last piece of Balcans that belonged to Ilirs for centuries and
centuries.

So, dear friend, whoever you are, the real Bosnians are not Serbs, nor Croats and definitely not Turks ( like many Serb or Croat historians or politicians tend to present ) or not even Muslims or Bosnjaks, like they call them today ( you know who you are ). They are just Bosnians (and Herzegovinians
if you please) cause they live in an entity or republic or if you prefer, country , called Bosnia, founded in 12th century and later as Bosnia and Herzegovina created when Herceg Stjepan decided to depart from his evil brother.
The birds in the air already know that

I was born in Mostar and I was there until 1992 when I went out because of my kids (5 years and 2 monts baby). Now I live in Australia where I made my little
Mostar: stone way(kaldrma),fig tree,grape,...friends multinational from former
Yugoslavia,...barbiques,fishing,...

I never learn my kids to look at people at that wrong way.-there are good and bad people no other selection-that is the only way to win this rich people game.
life is short use it wisely!!!!

Whole world have the same problem as had our country we were just part of it.Hunger for power couse it and it is not good at all.

They don't care what we write here-as I can see so much bad things people say here and webmaster is on holiday or what?
I don't belive in God I belive in people-we could make difference. If you hate hate specific man or woman not people that kind!!!!

To the person who posted before me...you are correct in your analysis about the future being the people.

I just cannot comprehend that Hrvatska can ever be forgiven, they caused us so much damage and grief in Mostar.

I guess ultimately because i suffered from Croats, I hate them. In the same way, someone who suffered from Muslims, would now hate the Muslims.

The reason I find it hard to lose this hate is that there
are still properties such as ours that have been mined to the ground, for which there has still been nil help to rebuild/reconstruct. I know some ppl lose brother, dad, mum, etc, but when you lse property it really hurts financially forever and creates a large black hole until it is fixed.

I do know 100 percent that as soon as the process established assists me to rebuild, then I will slowly start forgiving my former Hrvati neighbours and will
stop cursing them. But until then, I have absolutely nil alternative, they remain enemy number 1. As far as I am concerned, they are the world's number 1 enemy.

How long this happens and other similar influences I believe is dependent on how fast the reconstruction effort progresses to reach many who rightfully deserve it.

By the way, i am also in Australia, this country is full of opportunities, it is
nothing like BiH. I will visit Bosnia but am never going to go and live there again given the opportunities available here.

Releasing anger and preventing physical violence is a good short term goal, it may be the only goal if killing is the alternative. However, readers, how do you forgive those that rape your children in front of you, or have a father rape
their own children, or put people in concentration camps or kill\murder boys and men by the thousands? Come on! How do we forgive? War will happen again in
Bosnia and more will die if we cannot figure this out. Name calling, obscenity, bigotry, repeating what one hears about a group without taking the time to read history and getting the facts straight only brews more hatred and violence. It is easier to hate than to forgive. So, again, how do we forgive? How do you build up trust? Does militarizing Bosnia make sense to prevent future attacks? Does de-militarizing its neighbors make more sense? I don't know the answer and you may not know the answer, but if we don't find the answer there will be more
blood on everyone hands that could have prevented it.

Serbian people, Croatian people, and Bosnian people are not the same. I am Bosnian. first organised resistance against the Serb aggressors. My family fought the Serbs in the war, moje daidje i amidje. the serbs just sniped and shelled from the hills. If we had guns we would have kicked the Chetniks all the way to belgrade. we bosnians can fight well and even during the war we ambushed serbs convoys and defeated them and stole their weapons. day after day we became stronger and just when bosna was really gonna kick serbia AMERICA came and said stop.no more. so serbia is lucky. my uncle was a major commander in this war and got many wounds during combat. i know about the things that happened in the war. It is sad what happened and all bosnian people including croats and serbs who love bosna should never forget how we had to suffer and how our brothers were murdered by arkan, mladic and all those idiots.

: Hi folks, nobody can say that all three sides are guilty, and that we all are the same, I was born in Sarajevo, and I spent the whole war in Sarajevo, and everyday I saw how my people dies by the hands of Chetniks. Well, the story is simple. Through the political games, people have been convicted for a hundred years that they are Serbs or Croats. In fact, there are no Serbs or Croats in Bosnia. Only Bosnians who are of different religious beliefs. Whoever wants to know, knows who was the aggressor and who the victim in this war. I spent the whole war in Sarajevo, and I fought in the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the only legitimate army in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I am proud of that. The lecture we learned in this last war is: we don’t accept all kind of riff-raff, such as Radovan Karadjic, who is not even from BiH, but this country educated him for free, gave him an apartment in the center of the city, so he “thanked the country in such a nice way” with 200,000 dead, billions of dollars of damage, 100,000 displaced people... By the way, I don’t believe that people should “become Bosnians” by force, but nicely, just as the damage was done and people became Croats or Serbs through a period of a hundred years, now we need 150 years for the mistakes to be straightened out. Also, I have no problems to socialize with people who belong to a different ethnicity or religion, if they are human beings. But with “animals” (real animals forgive me for using your name to inflict insult) who are Chetniks or Ustasha, or other Fascists and all the others who support that kind of politics, I will not socialize or make peace. It would be better for those people to run away from me. As far as normal people, we don’t need to make peace, because we didn’t quarrel.

Just to clarify THE BOSNIAN WAR WAS MADE BY ALL 3 SIDES. serbs were kicked out of there homes in sarajevo, mostar, zenica and tuzla. Muslims were kicked out of there homes in Banja luka, Brcko, Bijeljina and Srebrenica. croats Where kicked out of there homes in bihac, tuzla, zenica and sarajevo. all 3 ethnik groups were ethnik cleansed. You don't need half a brain to know that!

I was so hungry in the winter of 93, that I had to kill and eat my dog. I hadn't seen a bowl of meat in a long time, and even though this way my faithful friend, we escaped much sniper fire and shelling, I had to eat him, in the end it was either him or me. This is very sad.

Anonymous said...

More from previous post. I lost my family in the summer of '92 to "Chetniks" outside Sarajevo, all I had left what was that dog, a beautiful Dalmatian. I love that dog more then I should, my only friend in a time of need, sometimes he bring me food, if someone had shoot a rabbit, he fetched it for me, when you are hungry it doesn't matter how old it is. Me and Boris (my dog), managed to live like this for almost 2 years, I love that dog, I miss him very much, I miss my family too, but the dog was more a brother and a friend, someone you can never replace. It was the worst day of my life when I eat him, he was so skinny and I think now, maybe I shouldn't have, maybe we both could make it, but I was so hungry... This is what the war did to me, this is not human, what the Serbs did to me, or what I did to my dog when he needed me the most, may god forgive me.

What to say. I was there all the time, and as journalist I had bad luck to see it all. After the Dayton accord was signed I have left due to poor health. Still have nightmares and "Gulf war syndrom"-like ailments. I still don't konw if it's too early to write about that war. There is a dark side of untold history to the siege of Sarajevo as well. Maybe some day. Recently I have visited Sarajevo for the first time since piece accord was signed. I can't recognise the town where I was born. This is not ment in a good way. For someone who declares himself as Bosnian (born in Bosnia) by nacionality and Sarajevan by faith all this experience is dissapoining one. If anyone wants first hand stories that are not in accordance with accepted history, just drop me a few lines. Debate about what happened still is to be opened.

Anonymous said...

of course you can say that you saw many people get killed in the hands of cetniks because of youe location. but what would you have seen if you lived where i had lived around that time? i was only six years old and i rember. I lived in a serbian area of bosnia. So you can not only say that the cetniks were the "killers" because that is all that you have experienced, and i feel that that is very ignorant to say that. And whoever said that it was all three nationalities was correct because each one had its own wrongdoings, and anyone who say different is not being realistic. That is great to stand up for your people, but not if you have no idea what happend all around. I was six years old and i still remember, the shooting, the aiplanes dropping bombs and many other horrible things. Im sure those were the serb cetniks bombing us....yeah right. Im not ashamed for what the cetnics did because i am not one, even though i am serbian. But whoever says that their side had nothing to do with the killings seems like they are in denial.

Having read these stories and many others I finally have to have my say. I was born and raised in Sarajevo. Participated in the never ending peace protests. Even went out on the streets and went collecting signatures of those who didn't want war because I surely didn't. ( I was only 12) In my mind I was doing my bit to stop the war from hapenning. Obviously it didn't work. I left Sarajevo after a few months of the war as I had to. I was a Serbian living in the Muslim controlled area. I survived, others didn't, including my own very dear family members. But the thing is I stil don't hate every muslim. Why should I? I don't judge a book by its cover. I still believe in humanity. I am not going to let the war make me into a bitter person. I am still friends with people of all different religions only because they are good people. I don't blame everyone who is Catholic or Muslim for what happened. It is called war. That's what war is. We should learn so that our children never have to live through that. HOwever that's never going to happen with some of your attitudes. You know I went to Sarajevo and visited one of the serbian mass graves where one of my family members was buried after being killed. People on the street were calling out to me:"Cetnikinjo"! as well as other abuse. HOld on a minute I should hate you and your people because you put my family into this grave, but instead you hate me and you dont' even know me. And having read some of these comments I am so dissapointed. People with such closed minded views of the world I don't believe you come from there. On the other hand I feel sorry for you as you are going to miss out on so much in life by not wanting to embrace people of other races and religions. You know what I now the truth about the war for myself. Everything else doesn't matter. I don't live there anymore, but I do hope the real truth comes out one day just to set the record straight. xxx

I'm a school teacher in a city called Aguascalientes in the Mexican Republic. I was looking for some information about Sarajevo, 'cause I'm going to discuss with my pupils about what had happened in 1992 and I was reading the stories and the other different points of view shared in this page. I obiously didn't lived there and experienced all you had, but in this other side of the world I'll give you my opinion. I think the most important thing we can learn of all this situations is that we have to live all in peaceful for our future children, to teach them to be tolerants and respectfuls with the rest of people.

To whom it may concern, this here is just another website that pretty much tells only one side of the story. I am from Sarajevo, was born and raised there and been there 'till Aug. of '95. I lived in a part of Sarajevo called Grbavica, during the war that was Serbian side of Sarajevo. Still to this day if someone asks me where am I from, and if I say that I am from Bosnia, they think I am muslim.. what is that all that about? Look at the procentage of Serbians that left Sarajevo. Still now I do not know one person who can answer this question for me. If there were demonstrations, and police got involved and also JNA (Yugoslavian National Army), what are "Zelene Beretke" trying to make piece and defend the city from WHAT?! I see people writing here like Serbians did something wrong to them, and how the will not Forgive and Forget, belive u me when I say this .. SERBIANS WILL NEVER FORGET OR FORGIVE. The whole world is against Serbians, but its ok, God will judge u .. Story that I have from those years that I spent in the war are not for this discussion, because like I said earlier, this is ONE WAY discussion. During the war 90% of weapons used by "Bosnian Army" came from USA or UN. If they really wanted to stop the war why did they provide the weapons. For the end, I just wish that all of you face the Gods face and I know the wish will come true sooner or later.

Anonymous said...

First and formost I want to say that the whole war was Serbias fault. When SLovenia and Croatia decided to become independent nations Serbia "tryied" to stop them. It didn't work. So why couldnt you Serbs just accept the fact that Yugoslavia as a whole was no more. SO Bosnia wanted to become independent too. Why do you Serbs think your all that and that YOU can tell and dictate other nations. Because of your SMART decisions Serbia is breaking apart. They lost Bosnia and now they are going to lose Crna Gora. Ohh and why did Serbia launch it's attacks on Bosnia secretly, we werent ready. Imagine what we would have done to you if you called it. Bosnia is the heart of the Balkans and you guys cant do nothing.

People only know how to blame it all on eachother. It like its not our fault is yours bla bla taht all i just a clear bull. each side is equal and at fault jsut as other side. We all have equal share of blame not only did one side did wrong but everyone else from that side. I survived three wars and i sure dont blame others liek all you others. Because all our people know one thing and that is to blame others. But no one ever thinks its just important to blame others. Of course that is easiest to do.

I was born in Croatia, then had to leave cause of stupid war and lived in Dalamtia, then had to leave again same reason then I lived in Serbia and there was war again. Bombin i survived that too.

SO all you dumb people dont say u know more or blame others for no reason we all are too blame because if we had any brains we could have made peace but we didnt why because we were different religions. And that was reason for war and that is stupid reason just waiste of lifes and time.

They say Yugoslavia is gona but its not mayeb you cant see it but i can and it will always be there no matter what. And Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Kosovo we all are same same people who are too stupid to see that all wars were useless non good came out of it. I am proud of who i am and i dont care what other people say, i dont give a damn. But its sad to see a great old country going into pieces why cause people of country are stupid and fight over what over stupid religions and blaming eachother.

I lost alot of things in war i havent seen my real dad in 13 years but i dont blame no one for that because blaming wont change past and what happened, people are too blind to see that united we are invicible no matter what. I survived three wars and i almost died but that is past this is now.

But the way we are goign there will be NO BOSNIA NO CROATA NO SERBIA in future cause it will all fall apart why because of peoples stupidty. What i have said i know its true and i see it, but some say its not its wrong but its not. Like it says we all pay for our sins no matter what. No praying can help us for all wrong doing we did to others. "what goes around comes around" and in end it all comes back double. Humans are worse then animals they jsut destroy their own world with hate. Just like we destroyed Yugoslavia.

LONG LIVE TITOOOOO!!!!!

Most of the world don't know that Sarajevo 92-95 was the longest surrounded city in the history of man kind. Not only that it was surrounded but it was shelled daily. Serbian forces exhausted all of the weapons that they had, and trust me they had a big variaty. Also Sarajevo was a only city in history of man kind to host the longest sniper warfare ever. Sarajevo was auswitz of its modern time. Sarajevo was worse battlefield than stalingrad, leningrad and berlin put together. You guys would not believe how muslim fighters in Sarajevo were defending them selfs. After WW2 the world said "never again" but yet they let Sarajevo burn for so long, shame on the world. I blame world jews for world's failure to stop the balkan war when it began. Karadzic is still free, if he was killing jews instead of croats and muslims he would be caught by the world long time ago. Shame on the UN, shame on Jews.

Hi. I was born in Beautifull Sarajevo. Lived there till 1992 and decided to leave. I was 13 then and left whole family and friends, school, home everything. I thought that I will get back to Sarajevo in week or two. Now when I'm 27 and live in outher country i still see Sarajevo in my dreams, I walk through it streets, see my hous, my school, see the mountains I use to ski, my femily.

What hurts me the most is the fact that I will never go beck because the city is not the same the people are not the same. the city that I remember and have in my dreams is gone forever and it will never get back.

For me it is not important who started the war or who is who. I just know that when I was a child a was the happiest. And there is no such place in the world where I will be as happy as in Sarajevo.

I will never get back to S. because I'm Serb and because the people who clim that I'm bed because Im who I am. I just have a question for the muslims and croat what in the world I did to you or my familly. Why do you hate me. The answer is: because you are so stiupid.

In country taht now I live noone even knoves what were you fighting for or what is bosna or big hrvatska or big srbia. The whole world gives a damn for the former YU. And to the muslims who hate my cros on the neck and to whom that dont like when I say dobar dan when Im on vacations in MY CITY NOT YOURS BECAUSE I WAS BORN THERE AND YOU CAME FEW YAERS AGO AND THINK IN THEIR POUR MINDS THEY ARE SARAJLIJE - MY SRAJEVO IS GONE AND YOU WILL NEVER KNOW THE BEAUTY OF THAT CITY BECAUSE PEOPLE MAKE THE CITY AND YOU SHUOLD GO BACK TO YOUR COWS. Posstovani! Zahvaljujem vam za reagiranje povodom organiziranja koncerta Gorana Bregovicca i Bijelog dugmeta u Sarajevu. Ibretim se, ssta ccine "nassi" medijei. To su svakako prije "njihovi"" nego li "nassi". Svaka ccast Senadu Hadzzifejzoviccu i TV HAYAT. Lijepo Vas pozdravljaqm i maksuz selamim. I would just like to ask the Bosnian Serbs who read and contribute to this webpage: What is your opinion regarding the Srebrenica massacre? Did it happen? If it did happen, who was responsible? Are Karadzic and Mladic heros? Is the War Crimes Tribunal biased towards Serbs? If you think it is biased, why do you think it is so? Is Republika Srpska a legitimate entity? Should Bosnia and Herzegovina continue to remain a Independent or should be dismembered and parts of it absorbed into Croatia and Serbia?

I lived in Grbavice, until the serb JNA came. They were ruthless, blood-thirsty animals, killing innocent people. More than 10 000 died in shelling or were killed by serbian snipers. This atrocity must be remembered, serbs are not human, they are natural born murders. Shame on every serb who voted Milosevic.

To nije istina. O UN i njezinoj umjesanosti u agresiju nad BiH cemo kasnije.

fact 1: Bosnian Army without any weapons, won the war.. Bosnia is now an independent nation.... whether you like it or not.

fact 2: Serb and Croat were aggressors.... and they will pay for eternity

fact 3: Serbs and Croats had to tie their soldiers to their posts when they hear mujahids are comming.

fact 4: We are Bosniaks (check the history of the Austro Hungarian empire to find out why we are called that).

fact 5: no matter how bad you want it, or how much you cry we will never speak serbo croatian, and we will always be muslims. we are proud of it. for all these serbs, the whole world condemns you because you are war criminals, you are scum.

fact 6: Lets have another war and see who wins. The earth rots with the blood of cowardly serb soldiers... we shall wipe you out next time.

Ja bosnjak u ratu, a rame uz rame samnom zajedno i srbi i hrvati i... Ponekad umiljata, uvjek cista, snazna, brza, a kad zatreba i opako prkosna... B1

Zdravo svima Ja sam Bora, odnosno Borivoj Spasic,Vec sam pre godinu dana pisao na temu merkala i Hrvata. No sada sam malo porazmislio i zeleo bih da iznesem svoje vidjenje cele situacije. Drugo:NEVER FORGIVE NEVER FORGET. A u sustini smo isti.Svi smo ljudi. AT yahoo.com malispale AT yahoo.com Spalejunior AT yahoo.com

Uci, citaj i slusaj.

I left Sarajevo in October 1995 after spending the entire war there. I saw my friends die, I was also shot by a shrapnel at the age of 16 and barely survived. To this day, I still have friends that are Muslim, Serb and Croat. After reading the comments on this web page, I can only say that I am glad that I don't live there anymore. Sarajevo will never be Sarajevo that remained in my heart. With all this bickering, placing blame, and nasty words going from each direction, I am glad I don't have to be a part of that. Davor.

hello everyone i live in california, USA and i was in sarajevo this summer with my friends, and it was ten years of Srebrenica and what does srbs did was unbolieveble. The last man who did such thing like that was Hitler and NAZI, i am not saying that all serbs are bad but those who were killing innocent children, men, and womens should PAY. I never saw anything like that in my life, and city sarajevo is a beautifull city, it will be even better in 10 years......I also saw couple of movies how Sarajevo was bombed in the war and that was sad to watch. What those people went threw its hard to bolieve......Serbs who did that should pay and they WILL couse HItler paid too......

Im Australian and my girlfriend was born in republika srbska, but her mum (Macedonian) and her`father (serb) brought her to Australian to live. We are going to visit Belgrade and Sarajevo later`this year and Im looking forward to it. Only when I read all the anger in the stories here it seems like there are some crazy people over there and maybe we should go somewhere else. Im sad that atrocities were committed but if you dont get over it the rest of the world is going to leave you behind.

The serbs not only killed soldiers, but innocent people as well, they enjoyed to see the muslims and croats suffer. They felt that by killing muslims in Bosnia they were paying back turkey for their rule over Serbia for close to 400 years. The serbs started the war on unarmed people of Bosnia and ended up losing it anyway. THey killed innocent women and children, shows what kind of people they really are. THE WHOLE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT KIND OF RACE THEY ARE!!!!!!

WELL.. I currently reside in the state of California, but am originally from the city of Sarajevo. Recently I decided to try to seek the real truth of what happened during that period of war. I am Muslim, but I tried to exclude that portion out of my research. No matter how I try to approach the subject I am left with the same conclusion; it is the Muslims of Bosnia whom truly suffered. I would believe there honestly were Serbians whom did not agree with what their people were doing so I don't hold accountable all of the people whom are decendents of Serbians. My father played an importance during the war, as did many other fathers. He fought with all he had, and walked away with only three scars. A piece of bullet still dwells in his body, forcing him with a memory for the rest of his life. All that isn't even the more vivid part of his experience. He watched 80% of his friends die in front of him and by his side. Even though at the time of the war I was approximately 4 years old, even I am left with a memory. I will never forget hearing the shots being aimed at our neighbors, mother, and I. I can still picture the mass of people running through the streets screaming. A movie I saw a few years ago depicting the war enraged me. Serbian soldiers were claiming everything they were doing to my people was actually being done to them and their people. Again I would come upon information of a similar account. I couldn't believe what I was hearing; how they had the audacity to try and manipulate the rest of the world like that. I have friends of many races, and mixtures, and I honestly don't see myself as a racist or prejudice person. What I have come upon though is at any mention of the war everyone becomes silent and does not respond to my statements or questions. A part of me wants to yell, and tell those whom are ashamed to speak of it, to stop being ignorant. I know I am not just stuck in the past. The event that occured those 3-4 years has affected me in such a huge way that I will never forgive those involved in the slaying of my people. As I look at the world today, with the 9/11 incident, it just makes me even more pessimistic. Constantly religious issues arise, and I myself am sick of it. Islam more and more is becoming the victim of hate. I fear that one day what happened with the Jewish people during World War II, will happen with the Muslims, God forbid. I haven't visited Bosnia in 10 years because of certain complications, and it tears my heart apart each day. Because of the Bosnian War I have not seen half of my family, my grandfather passed away recently and I never even met him. I still question myself to why my father hasn't gone mentally insane living through the conditions he had, and the struggles everyday we face now. In my sixteen years of living I can honestly say I have experienced a lot. American life is complicating enough, and trust me, if you were at the bottom to start with and had to struggle to even reach an intermediate style of living, you would understand. I have seen the darkness of drugs, rape, starvation, abuse, and I still see war as the worst experience one can go through. I don't understand why people have to resort to such a thing. So much more in this world kills people daily, and for men to take mens lives is just so low. So those whom insist on telling people to get over it, and move on.. you picture yourself in any of their situations and then try taking that same advice. Of course those Bosnians whom fled at the start, or didn't have anyone die in their family or circle of friends would look at it as just another incident. I will not go through life anymore taking criticism from people whom have no idea what they are talking about. In my opinion people need to get their facts straight before they ever say anything from either side. If anything I have learned from that war, it is that I will NEVER forget what was done to my people and country. It breaks my heart also that everyday, I swear, the culture all together slowly keeps fading. Those people fought and died so our people can remain in their homeland and preserve the Bosnian culture, yet so many living here in the U.S. and elsewhere in the world, even try to come up with a solution to rebuild what we once had. Maybe many will look at me as some confused teenage girl, but only judge me when you have, as they say, walked a mile in my shoes. GOD HELP US ALL.

Bosnia is what it used to mean to me as a child, as i child isaw the beauty of the nation. Now i see what has destroyed it, Bosnia will take years and years to be what it once was. Serbia will never has its 'Greater Serbia'. It was Milosevic's idea to have the whole of Bosnia, Macedonia, Serbian Croatia and all of Slovenia's money. Well that selfish idea will never happen!

Guys, it tears my heart apart to see that we are still pointing fingers at each other. Especially at serbians being the only culprits. Don't you see that the Americans are only supporting one side, the muslim side for now, on purpose? Don't you see that they like to paint everything as good and evil, black and white. Many serbs died too, dont' you see that the western forces who did not like to see us get along and live well in our socialist country did this? And they are ensuring that the hatered will last by saying muslims were good and serbs were evil, so that the serbs will be reactionary. It's easy to bring up these feelings when atrocities happened on all sides, and all our wounds are still raw! As muslims even, look at what they are saying about muslims in other parts of the world when it's convenient for them! Look at the conflict in palestine and israel.. just because the US and the west keeps on saying that Israel is the victim, it doesn't make it so... I wish we could all go back to getting along.. i wish we had been strong enough not to let someone do this to us. We should have listened harder, when Tito told us "Mi smo more krvi prolili za bratstvo i jedinstvo naših naroda i nečemo nikome dozvoliti da nam dira ili da nam ruje iznutra, da se ruši to bratstvo i jedinstvo."

I am Australian and am in love with a beautiful woman from Sarajevo. She sometimes tells me about the pain she went through during the War and my heart cries with her. To all who suffered, the World knows of your suffering and if I could wind back time I would. I hope you all find Peace within your hearts.

My Story is very simple and sad. My mother was injured in Markale Bombing, She barely survived and we were evacuated to the US. I was only 15 at the time. I like my life in US but it can never replace my homeland.

Unfortunately i have not been able to visit my hometown--Sarajevo for 5 years now, but I am hoping to go soon. I just wanted to chat with some people from Sarajevo because most people I know know are from Prijedor, Mostar, Tuzla or Zenica and I just want to mention some old neighborhoods and things that people will recognize right away. This is it for now. Peace.

Evo kako mi u Sarajevu (jednom jedinom) razmisljamo o vama. U stvari i ne razmisljamo, bezveze ste negdje gore u brdu, a mi smo dole ono sto smo nekad bili, raja, i dobro nam pravo.

I was last week in Sarajevo, and i was struck by the holes in every building which trigered something in my brain, actually i am Serb from Belgrade, and i know that it may sound funny, but i wasnt familiar with a scale of campaing against Sarajevo, actually i am one of the golden boys of Serb propaganda , speaking and comunicating several languages including arabic. So i must admit that we didnt know what happens , it was very little information of siege and very controled flow to me so i have some justification of things that happens but, after seeing Sarajevo ( by the way i was in JNA in 1984 last time there and in a way i like what city looks like now it is amazing and interesting)!) man can not say any justifictaion for indiscrimannt shelling and sniping of the city , i refuse to take any part of responsibillity for tah as a memeber of Serbian people, i dont like this people which have done that , and i dont like anything about them and i want them in prison! And if they are so brave why dont they surrender themselves!

I was born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 8, 1991. Lived on Alipasino Polje which is like the best place ever to live. My mother was a lawyer and my dad was a journalist for Oslobodjenje in Sarajevo. War broke out in 1992 as you all know and many had to leave including me, my brother, and my mom. My dad came from work one day escaping sniper and gun fire from the surroiunding hills and he told us there was a bus waiting accross to the other building. My mom packed our things and we left toward the bus. My mom said her goodbyes to my father and we left. (I would see him 4 years later). My mother had to run across the field that seperated the 2 buildings to get to the bus because snipers were always shooting. We got in the bus and we went somewhere. Not to go in depth to where we went, we finally got to Split, Croatia where we lived for a year until we got kicked out of there because the Croats started attacking HercegBosna. So we found a UN agency in Split and they told us they would send us to Penrith, England or Fort Wayne, Indiana (US). We decied to go to the US to start a new life. Were we wrong. The charity organization that lead us, put us in the ghetto in a neighborhood where people were shot every night. We moved to an apartment complex after that and I went to school here and still do. My parents dont like the jobs thier doing because they have too much education for these jobs. But america doesnt except my parents degrees here. So if you would like to know the whole deal or want to ask me questions about Sarajevo, contact me on aim at FaNaTiK123. Thanks for reading my short summary.

I am an American soldier (just retired) and was stationed in Bosnia in 1998. First I was at Camp Colt, then Camp McGovern near Brcko. Brcko was mostly rubble - would like to see it now. Bosnia is a beautiful place! Great weather, and the people are nice. Sarajevo is one of the prettiest cities I've seen. I hope to visit Bosnia again some day.

Anyone who´s got a funtional brain knows that Germany And US government started the war in former Yug. Croatian Nazi president, Franjo Tudjman, visited Germany in 1990 and in 1991 together with tha man who gave Usama Bin Laden Bosnian passport, Iset Begovic.

US government and all NATO countries are quiet about that the Serbs fought against what You call today, Al-Qaida. Both in Kosovo and in muslim Bosnia. Sleeping Talibans live today in muslim parts of Bosnia and in Kosovo/Albania.

When 911/NewYork happened, the Kosovo-Al-Qaida army (KLA/UCK) went public and said that they do not exist anymore, why? because they were involved in the 911 attack. US govermnet knows this fact, but will not come forward because the Serbs must be the BAD-Guys.

You have all been fooled, and You are wearing the dumb-hat still today.

I was born in Vukovar, I am Croatian, lived there for happy 13 years, then the war broke out, destroyed everything what was supposed to be my best teenager years, they were spent in agony, fear, depression and poverty in a horrible refugee center in Zagreb. My parents were captured and spent time in a concentration camp in Serbia. I will never return to Vukovar, it is not my town any more, and at the same time it is the only town I belong to...I will be a refugee forever...

i think when the south slavs learn to think more about the economy and less about the nation/religion (which doesn`t mean that people shouldn`t be religious - and the true belivers aren`t nationalists) we will maybe have peace one day...

instead hating each other, use your energy for doing something good for your life, becouse you have only one.
spend your life as good as you can, becouse you don`t live thousand years, spreading love and loving the good people, no matters which relligion/nationality they are!!!

PEACE AND LOVE

I was born in Sarajevo and lived there up until the war with my parents ( it was a mixed marriage, my father is croatian and my mother is serbian) and sister. My mother and my sister and I fled Sarajevo while my dad was recruited into the army.We had been moving from place to place for 2 years. Two years after we left Sarajevo, we met up with my dad in germany. At the time I was really young and I don't remember anything from the war. I've heard so many horror stories from my parents and grandparents, so many atrocities, so many inhuman stories. It hurts to remember what happened, but it hurts even more to forget. This war was something that has affected so many people in so many ways.
